Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) recent projects for Community High School District 117 involved enhancing the outdoor amenities at both Lakes Community High School and Antioch High Schools. Our role included developing site plans with detailed demolition and utility layouts, concrete work geometries adhering to Village codes, and strategic grading for effective erosion control. Both projects focused on creating sustainable, practical, and aesthetically pleasing outdoor spaces that cater to the schools’ needs for outdoor events and social gatherings. These enhancements at both schools not only improve the infrastructure but also enrich the student and community experience, reflecting GHA’s commitment to creating engaging and functional outdoor environments.
LAKES COMMUNITY HIGH SCHOOL:
At Lakes Community High School, GHA’s work included the development of new hardscape areas tailored for versatility and convenience. This included creating a new concrete area designated for food truck use, providing a versatile space for all events. Additionally, a permanent grill area was constructed, offering a dedicated spot for outdoor cooking and socializing.
ANTIOCH HIGH SCHOOL:
For Antioch High School, GHA’s work helped transform an underutilized green space into a practical and appealing six-tiered terrace seating while expanding the existing concrete area around the concession stand. This expansion seamlessly integrated with the new terrace seating, enhancing the overall functionality and aesthetics of the event space. GHA also designed a new permanent grill area that includes full-sized grills and high-top counters, enhancing the space for socializing and outdoor events.
