Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc., (GHA) along with joint venture partner, Atlas Engineering Group Ltd., was retained to provide Phase III Construction Management services for the reconstruction of Central Road from Roselle Road to Ela Road, and the construction of a new westbound on-ramp to the I-90 Jane Adams Tollway, including a new electronic toll plaza. Contract PSB 14-1/8 I-14-4193 was inter-governmentally joint funded between the Cook County Department of Transportation and Highways (CCDOTH), Illinois State Toll Highway Authority (ISTHA) and the Village of Schaumburg.
Due to extremely poor soil conditions, the existing pavement along Central Road had failed and required substantial reconstruction. The improvements along Central Road included the construction of a dry land bridge Due to the many constituents involved, this project warranted significant coordination with the county (CCDOTH and FPDCC), State, Tollway, Village of Schaumburg, as well as the contractor and design engineer.
This project also required extensive and effective communication and coordination with adjacent business owners including Illinois Department of Transportation District 1 offices. Using our familiarity with the industry, coordination was seamless between various agencies and companies
