Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) provided construction engineering services for this 3.8-mile roadway resurfacing project throughout the Thorngate subdivision in Riverwoods, IL. The proposed improvements consisted of asphalt removal and replacement, drainage improvements, curb and gutter removal and replacement at various locations, and sidewalk improvements to meet ADA standards.

GHA provided contract administration and full-time construction engineering services in accordance with IDOT procedures. Additionally, GHA coordinated with project stakeholders, residents, and the Board of Directors of the Thorngate Owners Association to keep them informed of progress through weekly newsletters and daily resident communications.

Due to the scope of improvements and related impacts, a well communicated staging and phasing plan was critical to maintain access and minimize traffic impacts to the 300 homes directly affected by construction.

By successfully managing all phases of the Thorngate Road Program, GHA delivered a high-quality project that met the needs of the Thorngate community while ensuring minimal disruption to residents.
