Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) partnered with the Village of Wilmette to provide Phase III Engineering Services for the Wilmette Avenue Resurfacing project. This project aimed to enhance the roadway and surrounding infrastructure from Green Bay Road to Ridge Road utilizing Surface Transportation Program funding provided by IDOT and local funds.
The work consisted of a 3″ asphalt pavement surface removal and replacement with hot mix asphalt surface course (2″) and hot mix asphalt binder course (1.25″). The project also included 10″ hot mix asphalt patches, minor utility structure repairs, combination concrete curb and gutter removal and replacement as necessary, and sidewalk removal and replacement as necessary. Additionally, the placement of detectable warnings for ADA accessibility, structure adjustments, pavement markings, and necessary landscape restoration were integral parts of the project.
GHA’s scope of services included construction observation and resident engineering to ensure compliance with design specifications and regulatory requirements. The project also involved stormwater management, utility coordination, and soil erosion and sediment control monitoring.
The successful completion of the Wilmette Avenue Resurfacing project has significantly improved the roadway’s infrastructure, providing a safer and more accessible environment for residents and visitors. GHA’s commitment to delivering high-quality engineering solutions and effective project management were instrumental in achieving the project’s objectives.
