Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) is providing Phase I Engineering services for improvements along East Hawley Street from Seymour Avenue to IL Route 176 in Mundelein, IL. Building on prior work by GHA on West Hawley Street, this project includes a full roadway reconstruction, new pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, on-street parking modifications, and intersection improvements. A multi-use path is planned along the south side of the corridor that will connect two regional paths (Millennium Trail and North Shore Bike Trail), complemented by improved sidewalk networks and on-street parking.

GHA’s scope includes survey and data collection, right-of-way research, drainage and traffic analysis, environmental coordination, and the preparation of a Project Development Report in compliance with IDOT and federal requirements. A key component of the project includes evaluating the potential re-alignment of East Hawley near Brice Avenue and associated impacts to operations, right-of-way, and design. Coordination with multiple stakeholders, including IDOT, FHWA, LCDOT, LCSMC, ICC, and the Canadian National Railroad, continues as the team works toward Design Approval. GHA has also been selected to provide Phase II Engineering for this STP Funded improvement.
