Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) partnered with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) to provide statewide traffic data collection services. The work is part of a five-year contract, currently operating in year four. The effort supports MDOT’s long-term traffic monitoring program across approximately 119,000 miles of state and federal-aid roadways.

GHA deployed advanced equipment, including Miovision video units and Road Runner 3 tube counters, to ensure accurate data collection. The team employed rigorous QA/QC procedures, such as cross-checking data with GPS coordinates and adjacent station volumes, to ensure high-quality deliverables. GIS waypoint mapping was used to provide real-time updates and location verification for all counts, allowing seamless coordination between field crews and MDOT.

By leveraging decades of experience and cutting-edge technology, GHA delivered reliable data to support MDOT’s mission of maintaining and improving Michigan’s roadways.
