Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc. (GHA) partnered with the Village of Orland Park to assess the condition of approximately 375 miles of sidewalks. The project aimed to identify defects, prioritize maintenance, and ensure compliance with ADA standards, focusing on enhancing safety and accessibility throughout the network.

GHA’s team utilized precise GPS equipment to map out and document various sidewalk defects, ranging from cracking and uneven surfaces to accessibility concerns. With real-time data integration into Orland Park’s GIS infrastructure, the project facilitated efficient planning and streamlined maintenance tasks. A key aspect of this assessment was the focus on ADA compliance, ensuring the network is accessible for all residents and visitors.

The project emphasized transparency and community input, engaging residents to better understand local needs and concerns. GHA’s comprehensive final report offered a detailed analysis of conditions, along with clear recommendations for maintenance and improvements. The integration of this data into existing systems enables continuous updates and strategic planning, allowing the village to allocate resources wisely and maintain a well-connected, sustainable sidewalk network.
